Police recovers missing sniffer dog

Hoima police have finally recovered the sniffer dog, which went missing on Friday morning. The dog disappeared when a police truck registration number, UP 5626 on which it was traveling with detectives to Kikuube district on a mission to track suspects overturned.

In shock, the vanished into Bugoma forest reserve as soon as the police pickup truck overturned at Kitooke village. The officers reportedly hadn't sought permission from their superiors to take the sniffer dog from the station.

Hoima district police commander Christopher Katumba said they recovered the dog following a thorough search in Bugoma forest by officers from the canine department.

Katumba says although the dog has some minor injuries it sustained during the vehicle accident, its condition isn't alarming.
