The media fraternity in Kasese is mourning the death of Charles Muhindo who has been working with Light FM radio.
Muhindo was involved in a motorcycle accident in Hima town on Monday while returning from Bunyangabu district. The deceased was riding a motorcycle when he crashed into another cyclist. He succumbed to head injuries on Monday night at Kilembe Mines hospital in Kasese town.
Light FM station manager Geoffrey Kanyonyi described the deceased as a humble, dedicated and growing journalist who transformed the station newsroom. Muhindo was also in charge of staff welfare.
The station news editor Owen Baluku says Muhindo joined Light FM in 2018 as an intern but was promptly promoted to staff reporter due to his abilities and dedication to assignments. At the time of his death, Muhindo was the station's senior reporter and presenter.
Simon Bikeke, the coordinator Umbrella for Journalists in Kasese says it's unfortunate that the media industry is losing young people.
Baluku will also be remembered for his passion while presenting the World Affairs program every weekend. Last month, another journalist Denis Mumbere who was working for South Rwenzori Diocese Radio Messiah died after being involved in a car accident while returning from Bwera.
