Police truck knocks woman dead along Northern bypass

3 killed in Mbarara road accident
Three people died on the spot following an accident at Rwemiyenje Rugando trading centre along the Mbarara-Rwampara road.
The accident which occurred today Thursday morning involved a bus registration number, UAQ 079W belonging to Bismarkan Coaches, a Carina saloon car registration number, UAV 977P, and a motorcycle registration number, UEP 535K.
Emmanuel Rukiiri, an eye witness says that the accident occurred when the driver of the Carina tried to turn on his right and was hit together with the motorcycle by the speeding bus. He explained that after hitting the vehicle, the bus swerved off the road injuring several passengers on board.
Stephen Kamar, the Rwampara district police commander confirmed the death of three people. William Bagarukaho, a resident of Rwemiyenje village says that his elder brother George Kangwamu and his wife were travelling home in the Carina from Kyegegwa district for a family meeting.
Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region police spokesperson, says that the injured accident victims and bodies of the dead have been transferred to Mbarara regional referral hospital for treatment and post-mortem respectively.
