Uganda registered no new coronavirus case for a second day running after all 150 samples tested negative for COVID-19. Similarly, yesterday all the 231 samples also tested negative at the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI).
The country's cases still stand at 52. Kenya today reported 16 new cases, raising its national tally to 172 cases - with government ordering wearing of face masks by everyone while in public.
President Uhuru Kenyatta also ordered a lockdown and curfew on Nairobi Metropolitan Area which has recorded 82 per cent of all Kenya's coronavirus cases. 14 per cent of Kenya's other reported cases are in the counties of Kilifi, Kwale and Mombasa. These have been declared infected areas and movement outside has been restricted for at least 21 days.
France, USA register 1400 deaths each
The USA and France both recorded more than 1400 deaths each today Tuesday. USA registered 1,404 deaths and 19,583 new cases rising its national tally 386,587 cases.
France registered 1,417 deaths and 11,059 new cases. The United Kingdom's deaths also reaped to 786 today with more 3,634 new cases. Belgium registered 403 deaths, Netherlands 234 deaths while Sweden registered 114 deaths.
South Africa registered 63 new cases to take its tally to 1,749 and one death today. Algeria once again registered Africa's highest COVID-19 deaths at 20 while Morocco lost 10 lives.
Ghana registered 73 new cases to take the national tally to 287. Mauritius registered 24 new cases to take its national tally to 268. Senegal's cases rose to 237 after 11 new cases were confirmed today.
Togo arrested 7 new cases rising its national tally to 65. Mali, on the other hand, registered 9 new cases while Ethiopia registered 8 new cases.
Guinea Bissau registered 15 new cases. In Gabon there were 6 new cases while Sudan registered 2 more cases. Malawi registered its first death and 3 new cases with the national tally rising to 8. Somalia also registered one new case.
Global cases now stand 1,411,348 with 65,344 news cases registered today and 6,395 deaths.
