Amuriat pledges to protect Banyankole after Museveni fall

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Patrick Amuriat Oboi has told the people of Mitooma district that he will protect the Banyankole and their property if elected to power.

Amuriat who was speaking to the people of Bugongi and Kashenshero said that he has heard people say that if he becomes the president of this country he might harass the Banyankole.

"I want to assure you all of your safety and the safety of your property when we come to power, I have had some people say that if a Mukooko becomes the president he will harass the Banyankole but that is false". He said.

Amuriat further said, "I love the people of Ankole, I have good friends from Ankole, I have cousins living in Kazo, they are my first cousins and I will never do harm to anybody most especially the people of Ankole".

Amuriat said that he lived and worked in Ankole staying in Nkonkojeru and Mbarara when he worked as the civil engineer of roads and Bridges with an international firm, where he developed a unique relationship with the people of the region.

He said Museveni has wrongly portrayed the Ankole region as benefitting the most from government resources, pitting the region in bad light against other regions. Amuriat was on his third-day campaign in Ankole region and today he will be campaigning in Bushenyi and Rubirizi districts.
